Wonder - Saturday, July 14, 2012 | Daily WordWonder
WITH CHILDLIKE JOY, I EXPERIENCE THE WONDER OF GOD EACH DAY.
Children’s stories are filled with wonder, excitement and unlimited possibilities. In these tales, I can travel to distant lands, become an inventor who makes the world a better place, or turn into a superhero who saves others. As I think of stories from my childhood, I am reminded of the wonder-filled part of me—the part of me that believes in unlimited possibilities.
I can keep that childlike sense of awe by simply choosing to do so. I can look with wonder at the world around me. I can choose to wake up each morning with a positive outlook and an expectant attitude. I can choose to see the beauty in every face, every aspect of nature, every goal and dream. As I nurture this sense of wonder in each thought and action, my life is transformed.
You are the God who works wonders.—Psalm 77:14

Renewal
MY ENTIRE BEING IS RENEWED WHEN I OPEN TO DIVINE IDEAS.
Familiar patterns of thinking, like favorite old shoes, are comfortable and easy to slip into. Yet if they no longer fit, they need to be released.
If I notice familiar thought patterns of judgment or worry, I can release them as easily as I release outworn shoes. They may have served me in the past, but now I am ready to move on. I let them go and prepare for a new way of thinking and being.
As I release negative thought patterns, I embrace divine ideas of light, love, life and peace. My mind and heart fill with gratitude for the many ways God blesses me, and my life is renewed.
You were taught … to be renewed in the spirit of your minds and to clothe yourselves with the new self, created according to the likeness of God.—Ephesians 4:22-24

Harmony
EXPRESSING THE DIVINITY WITHIN, I EXPERIENCE HARMONY WITH OTHERS.
If I have a disagreement with someone, I do not shut down or lash out. I remember I have the power to defuse any impassioned feelings that may be building.
In prayer, I bring the other person to mind. As I inhale, I breathe in spiritual attributes of God, such as unconditional love, patience or understanding. As I exhale, I direct those blessings toward the other person. My breathing slows. I feel calm; irritation melts away.
This pause for peace brings me into harmony with the Divine and, consequently, into harmony with the person concerned. I am more able to discern spiritually-inspired solutions and better able to communicate them in clear, positive and respectful ways.
Render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace.—Zechariah 8:16

Protected
I AM SAFELY CENTERED IN GOD.
Spirit within guides my steps and lights my way. I am protected at all times, safe and secure in the all-encompassing presence of God.
Circumstances in the outer world cause me no fear, because my heart is full of God’s love, full of God’s presence. I acknowledge this powerful Presence, give thanks and center myself in its peace.
Where love, peace and confidence prevail, no harm can enter. God within me is a fortress of power and protection. My thoughts are positive and my words affirmative as I recognize my security in God within. I am calm and self-assured, helping others to feelsafe and secure as well.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.—Proverbs 18:10

Prayer Practice
PRAYER FILLS ME WITH AWARENESS OF GOD’S OMNIPRESENCE.
I needn’t wait for the perfect time to pray. I can pray aloud or silently anytime during the day or night. My prayers are my awareness of the omnipresence of God during good times and challenging times.
In prayer, I become still and centered. I retreat into the sacred silence within. I don’t need a special place or specific words. Prayer is communion with my Creator, and I pray from an attitude of gratitude and reverence for all life.
I become fluent in prayer as the sacred language of my soul, and I pray with ease—as naturally as I breathe in and out. Stilling my thoughts and being fully attuned to the presence of God, I am a conduit of prayer. When my prayer practice is more about being than doing, my life becomes a prayer.
Be still, and know that I am God!—Psalm 46:10

Guidance
ONE WITH THE MIND OF GOD, I AM CLEARLY GUIDED.
If in the past I have sought God’s guidance only for major life decisions or in times of crisis, I remind myself that no need or situation is too small for divine direction.
During my routine activities, I periodically pause to quiet my thoughts and open myself to divine ideas, wisdom and guidance. I turn my attention inward and silently affirm: God is with me always and in all things. Affirming this short statement of Truth opens me to receive whatever I need. An inner knowing may come in this very moment or unfold over time.
Whether my day is crowded with work and appointments or spent in quiet solitude, I am receptive to divine guidance. I live today with the confidence and joy of knowing the mind of God is active within me.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart.—Proverbs 3:5
