Scripture for Life: The Rev. Dr. James A. Lee

What Does 'Fruit of the Spirit' Mean?
When Christians speak of the work of the "Holy Spirit", they are speaking about the operations of the Spirit of God in the material world we live in, and within us. But God the Holy Spirit isn't here just to hang out, or to do a miracle or two for sport. The Spirit is there to cause things to happen in peoples' lives that bring them more in tune with God's purposes on earth (and beyond). When the Spirit starts changing someone, it shows as a growth in character, a change in their way of life that is good for the people they live among. This change in character is called a 'fruit of the Spirit', like the fruit grown by a tree can feed people and wildlife. From ancient times to today, abundant fruit from an orchard is seen as cause for hope and celebration. Abundant spiritual fruit also breeds hope and is well worth celebrating.

Paul Describes Them
The most famous Bible passage about the fruit of the Spirit is in Galatians 5:22, where the apostle Paul gives us a list of fruit. (Paul was into making lists.) The list is meant as a contrast to the list of the 'deeds of the flesh' found in 5:19-20. The spiritual fruit list is clearly not intended as an exhaustive description of the fruits, but was given to highlight the fruits that Paul wants the Galatian church to keep in mind. He lists the following nine fruit of the Spirit:

•love (agape);
•joy (chara);
•peace (eirene);
•patience (makrothumia);
•kindness (chrestotes);
•goodness (agathosune);
•faithfulness (pistis);
•gentleness (prautes);
•self-control (enkrateia).
(Check out the links for each word above, and throughout the page. The Galatians passage can also be read as listing the other eight as subsets of the first: love. Many Bible students insist that the singular of 'fruit' be used, and not the plural ('fruit' instead of 'fruits'). Yet, in English, the singular form of 'fruit' is occasionally used like a plural.)

When Paul follows the list of the fruit of the Spirit by saying "against such things there is no law", he was talking about the fact that the religious authorities and the Hebrew Torah (law) are positive toward behavior that shows these characteristics. Even a staunch enemy of the church will likely find these qualities appealing. These are known to be positive characteristics by almost everyone, in most eras, in most lands.

Prayer: We pray Dear Lord The Spirit of Christ dwell deeply in your hearts and souls to give unto the Lord for a real blessing. In Jesus name we pray.

A Day of Choice & Power: Dr. James A. Lee

Scripture: Choose you this day whom you will serve! Joshua 24:15

Prayer: Glory to God all in Christ Jesus whom we love, praise and worship. We humble ourselves of all sin and pray that all people will chose God first.

Sermon. Today is one of tremendous choice. In our choices there is power to be had at all cost. Our message is to make the choice we chose correct in terms of understanding our scripture at hand. Today we must contemplate the options of the world.

The world as we view it is falling apart one minute at a time. People are lost in war,greed and poverty. There are disasters at every Conner. The question is: Whom will you chose? God or man is a choice that one must consider. People are some what unclear as to the ramifications of such a choice and the power associated with it.

When Jesus had suffered all in the wilderness, satan offered Him all of the pleasures of of world to serve him. Jesus chose to serve God. Jesus went to the bloody, painful cross for our sins and serving God to the end.God raised Jesus on the third day with all power and glory.

We too must chose Jesus and God today while there is still light. Come to Jesus. God will take care of you until the end of all time as we know it. We will live in perfect peace forever and ever. The choice is clear. Let us live in The Joy of Jesus this day with all power, glory and honor.

Convocation: Health and Healing, Rev. Dr. J.A. Lee

Scripture: "By his stripes we are healed" in the Bible: Isaiah 53:4-5

Words of Life: Our message is centered on the concept of health and healing. The pressures of life are almost, unbearable. The economic troubles have hurt so many people in numerous ways it is difficult to imagine. The Holy Spirit speaks to us in different ways. God is concerned about the pains we endure. Our scriture speaks to this issue quiet candidly in terms of ones healing.

God knows of our short comings. He sees the power of sin, namely greed that separates the have and have nots. There some people that have everything while on the other hand there are people without any food or shelter.

Is it that one group is bad and the other good? No matter what the situation we must all do what is right and good in the eyes of The Lord. Jesus was beaten for our sins. As a result we are healed. This is what we must rest are faith upon. The idea that God gave us Jesus.

We pray for healing and good health for all people. We trust in God. This is the faith to move mountains. This faith is so powerful that it can heal the broken heart and soul from a sin sick world. Our faith is in The Lord of our salvation. This will give us both good health and healing. Will you give to continue our work of healing and health? God Bless You for these words of comfort from The holy Spirit. By His Stripes We are Healed.

Scripture: Prayers for Help

The Psalms
146

Praise for the LORD's Righteous Acts
1 Praise ye the LORD.
Praise the LORD, O my soul.

2 While I live will I praise the LORD:
I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

3 Put not your trust in princes,
nor in the son of man,
in whom there is no help.

4 His breath goeth forth,
he returneth to his earth;
in that very day his thoughts perish.

5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help,
whose hope is in the LORD his God:

6 which made heaven, and earth,
the sea, and all that therein is:
which keepeth truth for ever:

7 which executeth judgment for the oppressed:
which giveth food to the hungry.
The LORD looseth the prisoners:

8 the LORD openeth the eyes of the blind:
the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down:
the LORD loveth the righteous:

9 the LORD preserveth the strangers;
he relieveth the fatherless and widow:
but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

10 The LORD shall reign for ever,
even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations.
Praise ye the LORD.

Sermon: Loving God by Rev. Dr. James A. Lee

Prayer: Dear God our Father of The Lord Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit. We Love Thee and worship Thy Power and Thy Glory Forever A-men.

Scripture: De. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Sermon: Our message today comes from The Holy Spirit of God to us regarding the question of love. It is clear from The Word of God that we are to love Him. Loving God is so very important in the life of the believer.

Often, people today are almost afraid of the word love. They rather love things. We need love so much today. However, we are looking into the wrong places. The real question is: What shall we love and why? The answers is found in scripture.

The answer to all questions is found in Jesus. We are to love God. We are to love God with all of our heart. We are to love God with our whole soul. We are to love God with all of our power. But, why?

God so loves the world (you and I) that he gave of Jesus. The reason for this love is found on the cross. Jesus shed his blood for our sins so that we may live with
Him forever. He was raised from the grave and returned to God with all power, honor, and glory. Jesus will return to end all evil.

Loving God is a good thing. Our prayer is centered on loving God. We pray for the joy of Jesus be shared with the world. Love is the power that rules the universe. God is love. We pray that people will share their love with us and give to the glory of God in Jesus name. A-men.
,joy
