Why Did Jesus Choose the Twelve Apostles?

Why Did Jesus Choose the Twelve Apostles?

Why Did Jesus Choose the Twelve Apostles?
Dr. Doug Bookman
In His early months of ministry in Israel, Jesus attracted great multitudes to hear His messages, receive His miraculous healings, and eat the bread He offered. Many of the Jewish leaders had rejected Him and claimed His power came from Satan (Matthew 12), but the people—for the most part—flocked after Him.
Then comes John 6.
Just as the Jewish leaders had done, the people sought a sign to prove Jesus was who He claims to be: the promised Messiah. What Jesus gave them instead was a teaching that many found far too difficult. He asked them to trust in Him completely and to submit to His authority as the "bread from heaven." Many who claimed to be His disciples rejected Him and left.
Since the multitudes had turned away from their promised Messiah, Jesus began a six-month period of private instruction with the Twelve, those He would prepare for the time of this death, resurrection, and departure. Previously, Jesus had not mentioned these events and certainly not in explicit terms, which explains Peter's shock and consternation (Matthew 16:22). But with Israel's rejection, the shadow of the cross grew ever larger.
Seeking seclusion to instruct the Twelve, Jesus retreated to what would then be known as "heathen lands." The leaders in Israel harassed him because of their animosity to His teaching, and no place within the region would allow Him a time of true private instruction. The Twelve Apostles would serve as the core of the future church, and this time would prepare them for—from their vantage point—the catastrophe of His death. His instruction during this time culminated in the Transfiguration, witnessed by the three members of the "inner circle," Peter, James, and John, an event that fortified their faith and left an indelible impression on their later ministry (see 2 Peter 1:16-21).

Divine Order
MY LIFE IS IN DIVINE ORDER.
When my mind, body and activities are in divine order, I experience light to guide my way, health to restore my body, and prosperity to supply my needs. Aligned with divine order, I am at peace with my world and in harmony with what is.
Today is the starting place for a new and perfect order. I still my thoughts in prayer, and dedicate my mind to positive and constructive expressions.
I bless my body, affirming order in every nerve, cell, organ and function. I know the reality of God’s perfection manifests in every aspect of my being.
I bless my life that it may always be in divine order for good health, good guidance and good fortune.
All things should be done decently and in order.—1 Corinthians 14:40

Have you ever been involved in a well organized family reunion? What about about a spiritual journey as well? We need family and family needs us. It provides a foundation of love. Jesus gives us a greater sense of family beyond our imagination.

Have you ever just missed the loved-ones who have gone to the other side, the ancestors that made all things possible for your family? I miss my grandparents, father, uncles and aunts that have passed away. I miss all of my cousins and their children too. I miss my brothers and sister when we have been apart for some time. How wonderful it is to be at one with one-another.

Jesus is our family. When we accept all that Jesus did on the cross for our salvation, then we can apprehend the fullness of God's Love. Jesus was raised from the grave to give us all a new life. We pray for all families to embrace the love of God in Christ Jesus. We need a spiritual connection through the power of The Holy Spirit.

The family is our gift from God all in Jesus name. We are praying for all families , high in the spirit. Our love is radiated in the Love of God in Christ Jesus. We ask the God would indeed bless all the families in the body of Christ Jesus and all that He did in the name of pure love.

The Time Is Now - Monday, August 13, 2012 | Daily Word

The Time Is Now - Monday, August 13, 2012 | Daily Word: "The Time Is Now
NOW IS THE TIME FOR MY HEALING, RESTORATION AND FREEDOM!
Living with regret about what I or others could have or should have done, or lamenting what might have been, is a waste of energy. So, too, is withholding the best me for some future date.

Now is the only time there is. I don’t linger in the hallway of life, waiting for tomorrow. I seize the present moment to be fully immersed in living and to make an effective contribution to the world. I punctuate affirmative prayers with the word now to impress upon my mind and heart that there is no delay in Spirit.

Now is the time for healing and restoration; for liberation from beliefs or behaviors stuck in the past or saved for the future. Now is the time to flourish, to live life fully, to claim the full wealth of my good!

You are now the blessed of the Lord.—Genesis 26:29"
