Daily Bible Reading - May 1st, 2022 | American Bible Society: Psalm 18:1-24: Today we begin reading the first half of Psalm 18. It is the third longest psalm (after 119 and 78) and employs a warrior-deity image for God. The psalm is attributed to David who sang this song to the LORD after the LORD had rescued him from his enemies. This victory song also appears in 2 Samuel 22. Centuries after the time of David, this psalm was used to express the hope that God would rescue the people of Israel from their enemies.

Daily Bible Reading - April 24th, 2022 | American Bible Society: Romans 11:1-24: Chapter 11 is a summation of what the apostle Paul has been saying in chapters 9 and 10 about bringing all people—Jews and Gentiles—within the reach of God’s grace in Jesus Christ. Using the image of an olive tree and grafting, Paul argues that Gentiles are like branches that are cut away from a wild olive tree and grafted into a cultivated tree. The Jews are God’s cultivated olive tree, and the new “Gentile” branches have been grafted into the tree which now stands for the whole people of God.

Daily Bible Reading - April 17th, 2022 | American Bible Society: John 20:1-18: When Mary Magdalene goes to Jesus’s tomb, she sees that the stone has been rolled away. She runs to tell the disciples, believing that someone took Jesus’s body from the tomb. Then Jesus appears to Mary, telling her that he is going to return to God. Mary then tells the disciples that she has seen the Lord, and she is the first witness to Jesus’s resurrection.
