I shift my thinking and make new choices.
As I look at my life, I see some things working remarkably well. I am blessed by talents and gifts, and the opportunity to use them. But I also notice things that aren't working as well. In those areas, perhaps a shift is needed. If I keep doing the same thing over and over again, I cannot expect a different result. So today, I decide to make some new choices. Even small changes, made consistently, can make a great difference.
I begin by shifting my thoughts. As ideas for change come to mind, the accompanying spiritual support also becomes clear. As I make adjustments and alter my course, one thing never changes: Every moment of every day, I am loved and led by Spirit.
I have good advice and sound wisdom; I have insight, I have strength. --Proverbs 8:14"

Today holds great promise.
Each day holds great promise and endless possibilities. Perhaps I'll make a new friend or be inspired to write a poem or create a work of art. Maybe a prayer will be answered, harmony and peace will come to a troubled relationship, or an insight will become clear to me today.
When I open to the surprises and delights of each new day, I let go of limited or rigid expectations. If something doesn't turn out exactly as I planned, I open to what is. God is present in me, and all is well.
I am present to life as it unfolds. I trust in God and appreciate both the small and large blessings that each day holds. I eagerly await life's surprises.
O Lord of hosts, happy is everyone who trusts in you. --Psalm 84:12"

Our Daily Bread The Joy of Jesus
Staying Clean
Jeremiah 24-26; Titus 2
During a business trip to Philadelphia, I walked down Broad Street toward City Hall each morning to catch the subway. Each day I passed a long line of people waiting for something. They were a cross-section of humanity in age, ethnic origin, and appearance. After wondering about it for 3 days, I asked a man on the sidewalk why all those people were standing in line. He told me that they were on probation or parole after breaking the law and had to take a daily drug test to show that they were staying clean.
This struck me as a vivid illustration of my need to stay spiritually clean before God. When the psalmist pondered how he could live a pure life, he concluded that the key was to consider and obey God’s teaching. “Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. . . . I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your Word” (Ps. 119:11-12,16).
In the light of God’s Word, we see our sin, but we also see God’s love in Christ. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
By His grace . . . staying clean.
Lord, grant that we may hear You speak
As truth within Your Word we seek;
And may it show us all our sin
And make us clean without, within. —D. De Haan

Our Daily Bread
Surprise!
Jeremiah 22-23; Titus 1
A writer for The Washington Post conducted an experiment to test people’s perception. He asked a famous violinist to perform incognito at a train station in the nation’s capital one January morning. Thousands of people walked by as he played, but only a few stopped to listen. After 45 minutes, just $32 had been dropped into the virtuoso’s open violin case. Two days earlier, this man—Joshua Bell—had used the same $3.5 million Stradivarius for a sold-out concert where people paid $100 a seat to hear him perform.
The idea of a person not being recognized for his greatness isn’t new. It happened to Jesus. “He was in the world,” John said, “. . . and the world did not know Him” (John 1:10). Why did people who had been expecting the Messiah give Jesus such a cold reception? One reason is that they were surprised. Just as people today don’t expect famous musicians to play in railway stations, the people in Jesus’ day didn’t expect Messiah to be born in a stable. They also expected Him to be a political king—not the head of a spiritual kingdom.
The people in the first century were blinded to God’s purpose in sending Jesus to this world. He came to save people from their sins (John 1:29). Receive God’s surprising gift of salvation that He offers freely to you today.
Amazing thought! that God in flesh
Would take my place and bear my sin;
That I, a guilty, death-doomed soul,
Eternal life might win! —Anon.
God broke into human history to offer us the gift of eternal life.

I am centered and aware of the divine order of my life.
When I consider the world around me, I see inherent order in all of life. Seasons change, planets follow their orbits, and tides ebb and flow--the force behind them is unseen, and it is good.
The same force that keeps the universe in order keeps my life in order. I am one with this creative energy. Together we co-create and establish order in the days and events of my life. Centered and aware of the divine order in which I live, I am at peace.
I am on a course of divine intention. I face each day with confidence and the assurance of right outcomes. I relax as experiences come and go, knowing that my life is unfolding in a way that will bring me to my greatest good.
Keep straight the path of your feet, and all your ways will be sure.--Proverbs 4:26"

Through prayer, I lay hold of the blessings of God.
In prayer, we commune with God and understand that we are blessed. We release any belief in limitation and lack. We enter into the mighty realization that we are at one with all that God is and has.
In prayer, we draw closer to the Spirit of truth and feel it coming nearer and nearer to us. In prayer, we commune with the peace and love and health within us. We cause these blessings to come more fully into our experience. We see there can be no break between us and the things of God.
In prayer, we realize the very blessings of heaven are ours. Prayer is a conscious recognition of Spirit within us and a conscious conviction of our inseparable oneness with it.
The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up.… The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.--James 5:15, 16"

All things are possible through God's spirit within me.
Any darkness of doubt about who I am, what I can do, and what I can be dissolves in the powerful light of Truth. I affirm the following with assurance: I believe in myself because I am an expression of God's wisdom. I trust myself because I am a creation of God. I value myself because I am a demonstration of God's love.
My higher self--my spiritual nature--is assured that all things are possible through God's spirit within me. To have God-assurance is to have self-assurance. There is every reason to believe in, trust and value myself, because God's spirit is within me. I know this for myself and for all others. I work with enthusiasm and purpose. I celebrate life with joy and thanksgiving.
For mortals it is impossible, but not for God; for God all things are possible.--Mark 10:27"
