I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness. —2 Timothy 4:7-8

The Ironman Triathlon consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run. It is not an easy feat for anyone to accomplish. But Dick Hoyt participated in the race and completed it with his physically disabled son Rick. When Dick swam, he pulled Rick in a small boat. When Dick cycled, Rick was in a seat-pod on the bike. When Dick ran, he pushed Rick along in a wheelchair. Rick was dependent on his dad in order to finish the race. He couldn’t do it without him.

We see a parallel between their story and our own Christian life. Just as Rick was dependent on his dad, we are dependent on Christ to complete our Christian race.

As we strive to live a God-pleasing life, we realize that in spite of our best intentions and determination, we often stumble and fall short. By our strength alone, it is impossible. Oh, how we need the Lord’s help! And it has been provided. Paul declares it with these insightful words, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God” (Gal. 2:20).

We cannot finish the Christian race on our own. We have to do so by depending on Jesus living in us.

With longing all my heart is filled
That like Him I may be,
As on the wondrous thought I dwell,
That Christ liveth in me. —Whittle

A Matter Of Perspective

I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, that the Egyptians may know that I am theLord. —Exodus 14:4

Are you part of the problem or part of the solution? Whether that question is posed during a business meeting, a church council, or a family discussion, it often springs from a sense of exasperation in trying to comprehend why someone has acted in a certain way. More often than not, the answer is a matter of perspective.

If we had been among the Israelites leaving Egypt after 400 years of slavery, we would likely have seen Pharaoh as part of the problem—and he was. Yet God saw something more.

Inexplicably, the Lord told Moses to take the people back toward Egypt and camp with their backs to the Red Sea so Pharaoh would attack them (Ex. 14:1-3). The Israelites thought they were going to die, but God said that He would gain glory and honor for Himself through Pharaoh and all his army, “and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord” (vv.4,17-18).

When we simply cannot understand why God allows circumstances that threaten to overwhelm us, it’s good to remember that He has our good and His glory in mind. If we can say, “Father, please enable me to trust and honor You in this situation,” then we will be in concert with His perspective and plan.

Your words of pure, eternal truth
Shall yet unshaken stay,
When all that man has thought or planned,
Like chaff shall pass away. —Anon.

Daily Word

Home | Daily Word: "FORGIVE
I forgive and live in peace.
My words may not always be kind or compassionate, and at times, I may feel hurt by the words of others. In these instances, I take responsibility for my words and reactions. I participate in gentle conversations by explaining what I heard and sharing my feelings. I am a loving child of God, and through my willingness to hear others objectively, I open the door for clear, compassionate communication.

I rid my own heart of negativity by speaking my truth with love, and listening with love as well. When someone seeks pardon, I forgive and live in peace. Through this loving exchange, we connect heart to heart. Our communication is Spirit-led and any misconceptions are lifted to a higher level of spiritual understanding.

If there is repentance, you must forgive.--Luke 17:3"

John 8:1-20 "Jesus went unto the mount of Olives...." KJV - Online Bible Study

John 8:1-20 "Jesus went unto the mount of Olives...." KJV - Online Bible StudyJesus went unto the mount of Olives. 2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down , and taught them. 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery , in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned : but what sayest thou? 6 This they said , tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself , and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself , and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said , No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go , and sin no more. 12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying , I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. 13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true. 14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came , and whither I go ; but ye cannot tell whence I come , and whither I go . 15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. 16 And yet if I judge , my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. 17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. 19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered , Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me , ye should have known my Father also. 20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come .

The Joy of Jesus Church Speaks out Against Violence | PRLog
The recent reports of violence and threats of violence needs to be addressed publicly. The Joy of Jesus Church calls on all responsible pillars of society to speak out against violence. This does not resolve any problem we may face as a society. The Joy of Jesus Church is rooted on peace, hope and love for all peoplehttp://thejoyofjesuschurchonline.blogspot.com/

We are now on a peace and prosperity campaign to help people in need to become empowered to help others, and that violence is not the answer to problems. Children are the most adversely impacted by such hate and ignorance. Education and values which promote civility are in order.

The Rev. Dr. James A. Lee, Pastor of the Joy of Jesus Church http://thejoyofjesuschurchonline.blogspot.com/will develop a Center for Peace to help resolve some of the frustration people may experience with t5he political and economic issues that may result in violence. FaithWriters.com-Christian Faith - All My Heart to The Joy of Jesus

FaithWriters.com-Christian Faith - All My Heart to The Joy of Jesus: We find ourselves in troubled waters for numerous reasons. People are running out of real options. Jobs and money are both running on short supply. Time is moving faster. Information is now a science. But what about the condition of ones heart?

St. Paul found contentment in Christ Jesus, We too can find such joy. It is faith in Jesus that can help ones heart find contentment. The joy of The Lord is our salvation.

Jesus gave His life so that we may live in perfect peace in Him. He shed His blood on the cross for our sins. Greed and corruption has run so deep that the average person is now facing uncertain danger.

Jesus understood how the rulers of the world were only concerned with their earthly power. God gave us Jesus, His only begotten son, so that by faith in Him we shall not die, but have ever lasting life. My heart cries out for the joy of Jesus for everyone today.
