Divine Connection
I AM ONE WITH DIVINE LOVE.
Technological communication requires equipment to be in good working order, an adequate power supply, and a clear connection. One connection that does not depend on technology is my connection with the Divine. Any time I open my heart and focus my thoughts on pure love, I make a divine connection.
Nothing on the outside can block my contact with Divine Love. I clear the way within me by letting go of the belief that I am separate from the perfect Love that created me. I release separating thoughts of anger, resentment, or pain. Allowing Love—the essence of my being—to fill me, breath by breath, I feel the completeness of connection. I am one with Divine Love. I am at peace.

The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone.—John 8:29

Simple Words

I AM A DIVINE EXPRESSION OF SPIRIT.
My senses of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch emanate from my physical body. My capacity to think independently reflects my mental ability. I understand, however, that I am more than my physical and mental self. I am a spiritual creation.
Although I may sometimes act or speak in error, the perfection of Spirit is within me. As I connect simple but powerful words such as faith, love, and peace with the affirmation, I AM, I affirm my true nature and expand my consciousness. I AM an expression of God’s love and peace right here and now. I AM faith in action.
I embrace the Truth of who I AM and live this truth every day. I AM an expression of Spirit contributing to a world of divine creation.

Truly it is the spirit in a mortal, the breath of the Almighty, that makes for understanding.—Job 32:8

Just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. —Luke 6:31
The annual Texas Book Festival in Austin draws thousands of people who enjoy browsing for books, attending discussions led by acclaimed authors, and gleaning advice from professional writers. At one such festival, an author of young adult fiction told aspiring writers, “Write the book that you want to find on the shelf.” That’s a powerful recommendation for writing and for living. What if we decided to live the way we want everyone else to live?
In Luke 6:27-36, Jesus urged His followers to pursue a lifestyle that demonstrates God’s mercy to all: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you” (vv.27-28). He also said that generosity and a lack of retaliation should characterize our reaction to unreasonable treatment (vv.29-30). Jesus concluded, “Just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise” (v.31).
Impossible? Yes, if we rely on our own strength and resolve. The strength comes from the Spirit. And the resolve comes from remembering how God has treated us: “He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful” (vv.35-36). That’s a life we all long to see. —David McCasland

Community

IN TRUTH, WE ARE ONE.
When I think of the word community, I may picture a group of people united in a common cause or a small town in which neighbors help and support one another. In this time of instant news, emails, and texts, the means of creating community may have changed, but it still involves people connecting with one another.
Today I remind myself of the value of community. I identify the communities that help and support me—my spiritual community, my neighborhood, my workplace, clubs or groups to which I belong, and my town or city. I am also part of the world community. Living together on this planet, we can assist and support each other in peace and love every day. Let us be one community!

Peace be to the whole community, and love with faith, from God.—Ephesians 6:23

What Will We Be Like in Heaven?

What Will We Be Like in Heaven?

What Will We Be Like in Heaven?

Monday, June 17, 2013
To celebrate the publication of the updated and revised version of John MacArthur’s book The Glory of Heaven, we are posting a blog series adapted from the climactic chapter of the book. Throughout church history, not much focus has been given to the topic of what believers will be like in heaven—that ought to make these articles all the more interesting, provocative, and enlightening for you and your family. -GTY Staff
Perfection.
Most of us understand the concept but have a hard time envisioning anything truly perfect. Everything in our earthly life experience is flawed, imperfect.
And for those who know and love the Lord, the imperfections we are most deeply aware of often tend to be our own. I’m not speaking of the frailties of our bodies—though we feel those all too well. But the imperfections that trouble us most are not that superficial. The real problem is sinfulness that comes straight from the heart (seeMark 7:21–23).
Of course we have a tendency to be more tolerant of our own imperfections than the failings of others. We try to cover ourselves, but in our hearts we know all too well that we are woefully and sinfully imperfect. What Christian cannot echo the sentiment Paul expresses in Romans 7:24: “Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?”
We’re not alone in this. The entire universe suffers the effects of human sin. Paul also writes, “For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now” (Romans 8:22). That’s why allwe can know on earth is imperfection. All creation agonizes under the cruel effect of sin’s curse, waiting for the consummation of all things, when the curse will finally be removed.
At that time, everything will be perfect. Pain, sorrow, and the groaning of creation will finally be no more. “The ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away” (Isaiah 35:10).
Not only that, but we shall be gloriously perfected. The whole person—body and soul—will be made completely new, flawless. As the apostle John wrote, “Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2).
We can’t envision it now—“what we will be has not yet appeared”—but we will finally be wholly and completely Christlike. This is the very purpose for which God chose us in eternity past: “to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers” (Romans 8:29). “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him” (Ephesians 1:4). He has already begun His good work in us, and He will faithfully “bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). And when we see Christ, we will instantly and summarily be made utterly perfect, because we shall see Him as He is.
Heaven is a perfect place for people made perfect. Perfection is the goal of God’s sanctifying work in us. He’s not merely making us better than we are; He is conforming us to the image of His Son. He is making us fit to dwell in His presence forever. The utter perfection of heaven is the consummation of our salvation. It is the purpose for which He chose us before the foundation of the world.
Being conformed to the image of Christ is not something that will begin when this life ends. God is already performing His sanctifying renovations in the lives of His people on this side of eternity. We will explore that in greater detail next time.

World Peace

I PRAYERFULLY DO MY PART TO EFFECT PEACE.
Regardless of news reports about conflict or unrest around the globe, I hold to my faith in the promise of peace for our planet. Motivated by the infinite peace of God, I do my part to effect peace in the world. I radiate life-affirming, loving thoughts to any areas compromised by war, misuse, abuse, neglect, or the forces of nature. I affirm the power and presence of Divine Life and Love for members of all nations and communities affected by such conditions.
I look for the good in each person I meet. I use respectful, compassionate words that calm combative situations, which brings about peace and harmony. I choose to make peace with others, realizing the ripple effect is peace in the world.

To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.—Romans 8:6

Forgive

AS I FORGIVE, I AM SET FREE.
Even when there is no apparent problem in my relationships, I may at times feel tense with others or hesitate to interact. At such times, I turn within for prayer. Connecting with my divine nature, I invite and embrace a spirit of forgiveness toward others and myself.
Through prayer, I forgive others for actions, attitudes, or words that may have left me feeling hurt or diminished. I open my heart to express compassion, kindness, and divine love. While forgiving another may appear to set them free, in reality, it sets me free of regret, resentment, and ill will. Through forgiveness, I welcome new possibilities, deeper bonds, and a fresh start.

If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.—John 20:23

Pray for Others

I TRUST THE SPIRIT OF GOD WITHIN.
When a friend or loved one is hurting, I may wish I could change their circumstances, give them a new start, or free them from a destructive habit. But I must lift my love and caring above the situation, look past my perceptions, and set my faith on God within them.
I pray knowing my loved one is in God’s loving care and blessed by the healing activity of Spirit. I seal my prayer with the affirmation: Thy will be done. I release attachment to any specific outcome, resting in the assurance of divine results and timing for all concerned.
In praying for others, I give them a personal and powerful gift—an expression of my faith in them, in the spirit of God within them, and in the enduring power of prayer.

Pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances.—1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

Prosperity

I OPEN MYSELF TO THE DIVINE FLOW OF GOODNESS, IDEAS, AND SUBSTANCE.
I believe in abundance and the continual flow of divine goodness, ideas, and substance. If I am experiencing lack in my life, I may need to examine my thoughts and actions to determine whether they are in alignment with my beliefs. Do I often worry whether I will have enough money to meet my needs? Do I hold on to possessions I no longer need in fear of being without? If the answers are yes, I have a powerful opportunity to realign my thoughts, feelings, expectations, and actions with Truth.
My good comes from the inexhaustible, omnipresent substance of Spirit. I place my faith in Spirit and give thanks for all I receive. I am part of a joyous divine flow. I affirm and expect prosperity in every area of my life.

To all … that live throughout the earth: May you have abundant prosperity!–Daniel 4:1

Joy

MY JOY IS COMPLETE IN SPIRIT.
If I am searching for someone or something outside me to make me happy, it’s time to shift my attention inward. I may be discontented with what is happening or not happening in my life—but my life’s circumstances do not define my happiness. I choose instead to embark on an inner journey to joy.
Joy is always within me as a gladness of my soul waiting to burst forth. Sometimes I simply need to give myself permission to experience joy. The joy of Spirit is as much a part of me as my heart and soul. I have joy in knowing the spirit of God is always present, and I carry this with me every moment of the day. I’m not waiting for something to happen to me or for me. My joy is already complete in Spirit.

I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.—John 15:11

New Adventure

THIS IS THE FIRST DAY OF MY NEW ADVENTURE.
First-time snorkelers might initially struggle to keep the snorkel above the waves. But as they turn their faces toward the ocean bottom, the rolling surface is forgotten and they are awestruck by a vastly different perspective—a world of colorful fish and forms. Beneath the surface is a whole new world.
If life has become more of a struggle than an exciting adventure, I make the decision to change my perspective. I break away from limiting conditions and affirm a new way of life. When I do, an unexplored world opens up to me. I begin to see the joyful adventure that has been waiting for me all along.

You have heard; now see all this; and will you not declare it? From this time forward I make you hear new things, hidden things that you have not known.—Isaiah 48:6

Guidance

THE GENTLE PRESENCE OF SPIRIT GUIDES AND DIRECTS ME.
In times of turmoil, I may ask myself, What am I going to do? or Why did I make that decision? I can either wrestle with these questions, becoming bogged down in worry and blame, or I can turn within and allow Spirit to guide me.
In quiet moments of prayer, I open my heart and mind to receiving direction from Spirit within. As I relax in silent contemplation, I am receptive to subtle suggestions from Divine Wisdom. When I listen with an open heart, even something as simple as an overheard remark or a line from a song on the radio may provide an answer.
The gentle presence of Spirit guides and directs me. I know what to do, and I proceed with confidence.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit.—Galatians 5:25

If some one were to ask you what you needed most in life today how would you answer? Sure there are the essential needs; food, shelter, and money. However, there are and is a need so deep that there are people today who refuse to acknowledged the greatest power in the universe. But, why. What is it that can give you joy in a world in pain? Jesus came to not only give us joy, but to give it more abundantly. Joy is a lot more than simply being happy. It is far more than a smile on ones face. The real question is to understand the source of ones joy? Real joy is knowing the God so loves the world that He gave His son to save the world from such hardships vested in a life of sin. Jesus gave His life on the cross for our salvation and was raised from the grave for us. We praise God today for all the love that He provides us in Christ Jesus. The grace of God is real. Joy id understanding just how precious we are in the heart of God in Christ Jesus. It is our faith in God through Christ Jesus is ours. The Joy of Jesus is real. It is the deep understanding of the love  of God.

Breakthrough

I AM OPEN AND RESPONSIVE TO INSIGHT AND INTUITION.
If I ever feel as though I’ve hit a brick wall when moving toward a goal—whether in my personal relationships, health, or career—rather than being frustrated, I regard it as a signal to take another approach. I pause for a moment and refer to my spiritual compass—the Christ of my being—for direction.
Through inner guidance, intuition, and faith, I remove any limitations I may have placed on myself. I break through to a new understanding and move forward.
When obstacles arise, I think and act from my Christ Consciousness to discover possibilities I may have never before considered. Acting on the insight I receive, I am part of the transformation that results.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”—John 14:6

We do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. —2 Corinthians 4:5
While serving as a maid in London, England, in the early part of the 20th century, Gladys Aylward had other dreams. Her goal was to be a missionary to China. Having been rejected by a Christian missionary organization as “unqualified,” Gladys decided to go there on her own. At the age of 28, she used her life savings to purchase a one-way ticket to Yangcheng, a remote village in China. There she established an inn for trade caravans where she shared Bible stories. Gladys served in other villages as well and became known as Ai-weh-deh,Chinese for “virtuous one.”
The apostle Paul also spread the gospel to distant regions of the world. He extended himself as a servant to meet the needs of others (2 Cor. 11:16-29). He wrote this about serving: “We do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake” (4:5).
Not all of us are called to endure hardship to spread the gospel in distant lands. But each of us is responsible as a servant of God to share Christ with people in our sphere of influence. It’s our privilege to help our neighbors, friends, and relatives. Ask God for openings to serve and to talk about Jesus who gave Himself for us. —Dennis Fisher

And as such I’ve nothing to boast;
Reflecting the image of Christ to the world
Is what I desire the most. —Sper

Reach Out

I REACH OUT TO LIFE, AND LIFE REACHES OUT TO ME!
When I reach out to life, life always reaches out to me. I begin by examining my thoughts and attitudes. Have I thought life was passing me by? Have I felt unneeded or unimportant? If so, I shift my thoughts. It is never too late to expand my horizons, to participate in life more fully, to look at life differently.
If I have allowed my life to become routine, or shut out new interests or friendships, I prepare to make a change. I reach out, break out of my shell, and become a vibrant life-participant. I have much to give to life, and life has much to give to me.
God’s spirit in me is always nudging me to express more love, more joy, more enthusiasm. I respond by saying yes!

Get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit!—Ezekiel 18:31

Harmony

MY GIFTS ARE AN ESSENTIAL PART OF DIVINE HARMONY.
On the day I was born, I brought a unique song into the world. It is a song only I can express—a divine manifestation. It is essential to the great oneness of us all. No puzzle is finished without all the pieces, and no melody is complete without all the notes.
If I withhold the talents that are mine to give, I create an incomplete harmony in the world. If I try to make myself a copy of someone else, I create disharmony within myself.
Spirit has blessed us all with gifts, and I celebrate mine. No one else has my smile, my laughter, my love, or my voice. As I share from Spirit, I find nothing lacking. I give freely in harmony with the good that Spirit provides for me and for us all.

To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.—1 Corinthians 12:7

Blessed

A GENEROUS HEART BLESSES ALL.
Generosity nurtures our lives like the sun’s warmth nurtures tender buds to blossom. Blessed by the sun’s generous sharing of light, a beautiful expression of realized potential bursts free from containment.
I am grateful for acts of generosity that have supported me in times of need. I have known the gift of an encouraging word or an unexpected opportunity, so I reciprocate and give to others. The more freely I give to life, the more freely life gives back to me.
In return for the kindness I have received, I express loving-kindness to others. Just as a brilliantly colored flower evokes a smile, a kindness shared spurs appreciation. The cycle continues and all are blessed.

You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity.—2 Corinthians 9:11
