Is Christmas Really Important?

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the
government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
ISAIAH 9:6

Sermon: The question as to the importance of Christmas is at hand today. People are so lost in the commercialization of Christmas has gone too far. Children believe more so in Santa Claus and miss the true meaning of the Christmas.

Our scripture helps make the coming of The Christ clear. A child is born who is wonder. This child is the counsellor. A baby born that is God. The everlasting Father. The prince of peace.

In other words, God will come to earth as a baby in the person of Jesus. We has come to save the world from all sin. He will give peace and have all power.

We thank God for His Goodness and Love in Christ Jesus. In Jesus we find hope and joy. God loves us so much that our faith in Jesus will save us from sin.

Jesus gave His life so that we may live in peace and joy with God forever. This is why Christmas is so very important. That God gave us 'Jesus who died on the cross and was raised by the power of God to save all who believe in Him will have eternal life.

The Joy of Christmas is that Jesus was born and died so that we may live. Is Christmas important? Yes. In the life of the believer it is a moment of absolute joy to know that God is with us through all time because of His Divine Love in us and Christ Jesus. What a wonderful idea to be with The Lord of our salvation forever. In Jesus name we pray.

  3. Hi James!

I wanted to think and reflect more on what the true meaning of Christmas is to me, and wrote an entry on why it's important...although the peace and joy we can experience has nothing to do with the lights, trees and other trappings of the holiday. (I will admit, though, that those gingerbread cookies my kids made yesterday DO taste good).

  6. God Bless you. Let love have its way on this day and everyday. The reason for the season is the only thing that is important. I wish you joy.

  7. The premise of having God in one's life would seem to be a rather complex concept for a child to comprehend.

Therefore, in my humble opinion, something more simplistic and easy to comprehend exists in the form of Santa Claus.

For me, gift-giving represents the exchange of goodwill to one another, which could be a smile, helpful gesture, or guidance, although it should be evident yearlong and not just during Christmas.

  8. Children love Christmas and rightfully so. It is important to share songs like, Silent Night and The First Noel. Come All Ye Faithful is a great song as well. To read the birth of Jesus as a good tool.

It is important that love is shared on Christmas Day. If possible to make a donation to a children's fund in the child's name and give them the letter. Santa Claus is good too.

Christmas is what we make it. Ones heart is the driving force. Have your own, Merry Little Christmas is a great song. Give love every day. The world can be a cold place. 13 million people lost their homes. Children as sick and lost. We need all the love we can get. Let us pray for peace. God Bless you in all you do. We love you and I am certain that your holiday will be grand.
